The detox

This first section is a very important part to your recovery, but its the section which will help you start your trip to recovery. The biggest of your body changes will come from this weekly task which you need to follow through with confidence and a positive energy. its the 'detox stage'.

There are many people out there who dont understand the grief on your body from what it is consuming and I will split it into section.

Caffeine:

This is a very big problem, caffeine will cause you to act stressed and put your body into overdrive. Just remember, although caffeine is a legal drug, it is still a drug and has affects on the body.

Have you ever read a supplement or herbal remedy bottle which states it contains Anti-oxidants which help the body to relax and slow down, well this allows muscles to be in a calm state and allows you to think peacefully.

Take a cup of coffee or a chocolate bar and your digesting a substance which is a 'pro-oxidant' which will send your thinking and body reactions into a quicker and more stressful manor. Being tense and stressed is a very big role in anxiety and getting rid of the caffeine can mellow your anxiety down in 1 week allowing you to focus on the more important things in life which will help retrain your brain.

Here are a list of caffeine containing products you should look out for:

*Coffee
*Tea
*Chocolate (White chocolate contains NO caffeine)
*Medication e.g. Paracetamol pills
*Energy drinks
*Certain snacks and sweets

Always have a look at the label before you buy if your not sure.

Cigarettes:

Cigarettes is something I advise you cut in a week, as much of a challenge as it seems I did it and I wont look back on it with regret. Its important not to take it out of your life in a day as the oxygen levels in your blood changing can cause you to feel anxious. Here is how I advice you to cut down.

Day one (e.g Monday): 5 Cigarettes spaced out every 2 1/2 hours.
Day two: 4 Cigarettes spaced out every 3 hours
Day three: 3.5 Cigarettes spaced out every 3 hours
Day four: 3 Cigarettes spaced out every 4.5 hours
Day five: 2 cigarettes spaced out every 8 hours
Day six: 1 Cigarette, half around 12pm, half around 8pm
Day seven: Same as day six
Day 8: Nothing

If you slip up and get it wrong on one of the days for example "day four" then just repeat that day the next morning and carry on with the system as normal.

Anti Depressant:

I AM STATING CLEARLY THAT THE INFORMATION I WILL BE GIVING REGARDING ANTI-DEPRESSANTS SHOULD ALWAYS BE DISCUSSED WITH YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE CARRYING OUT THE DETOX.

Anti depressants can be a big harsh blow and impact on anxiety. The things is, anti-depressants can be a mask and if your taking them to deal directly with anxiety and depression related symptoms then it might be a good idea cutting it. The reason why is that the anti-depressant can act as a mask over the anxiety, it isn't actually curing it, but will proceed to make the symptoms more noticeable when you stop feeling the effects of the drug.

Think of your anxiety like a cut and the anti-depressants as a plaster. With a plaster on, the cut wont heal but will be masked from slight pain. When you take the plaster off the cut will be sore but then it will begin to heal in time.

SO IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE UP FOR DOING THIS STEP THEN TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR AND IF THEY AGREE THAT COMING OFF THE ANTI DEPRESSANTS TO TRIAL THIS METHOD WOULD BE A GOOD AND SAFE IDEA THEN PLEASE TRY IT, ALL THE TIPS THROUGHOUT THIS GUIDE WILL HELP THE CUT HEAL.

Drugs:

Drugs are a harsh impact to causing anxiety and can be one of the hardest to cope with and get rid of but it can be done with the effort. Most people don't realise that taking drugs: especially under the age of 21 can can be very harsh on the brains emotional development, seeing as anxiety can be a lack of emotional control they can tie into each other hand in hand.

Here are harsh impacting drugs on the emotional development

Cannabis: Due to the High level of THC in modern day "skunk" which is missing the crucial counter effect ingredient CBD found in your old school grass, it can cause the mind to loose control of its emotions very rapidly. If your a smoker of it then you will be in denial but you need to get over that phase, that urge for that total mind killing effect needs to stop. Carry on smoking it, especially under 21 then your mind is at risk. Anxiety caused by cannabis can be reversed, the sooner you quit then the easier it will be.

MDMA/Ecstasy: The party drug with a feeling which can never be topped. You wont feel as good in a normal reality life as you do on Ecstasy and that is the problem. Your serotonin levels are the happy feel good chemicals produced by your brain. When you take ecstasy these serotonin levels are released at a rapid level and the following day you feel terrible. You have used up most of your serotonin chemical and to regain the chemical levels back to its regular state it takes an average of TWO YEARS. This means you will never feel as happy as you did the night before you took it for two years, and during those two years it can cause a load of depression.

Cocaine/speeds/acid/ketamine/the rest of them: They all have similar effects of all other drugs above but with different aspects of anxiety, the moral with the drugs are cut them or they will cause and increase the severity of anxiety and its symptoms.
